"New Every Morning" is my latest 'inspirational' music video. The original working title was "Livin' the Dream". But, as often is the case, the song title went through a couple of different iterations, before all was said and done!
BACKSTORY: "This is another tune that's been on the RAYEWALTERmusic 'playe'list, a number of years.
It's been quite a wait and journey, from creation, to this release! What was the "wait" about?? The only way I can explain it is to say that, the time just hadn't been "right"; until now! I've had a defined musical vision for this tune, which hadn't fully expressed itself (the "perfectionist" that I am), and it literally took until just recently for that vision to come to fruition.
PROCESS: It all started with an idea about doing something "smooth jazz"-y. I sat at the piano and just began to play a bit. No real direction or theme, just a "feeling". Within a short while (not even an hour, as I remember), the general structure of what you hear today came together. Things just "flowed", once again; again, to my amazement!
I was satisfied with the song, but not the title. Gave some thought and prayer to it; and over time, I could 'hear' "(He) always comes in Time". (There had always been this sense of "the passing of time".) ...I felt at ease, and chose that for the future song title. I later researched and sourced video material, and began developing and editing a video concept; based on this theme.
I was making good progress, but there were a few 'holes' in the video sequencing that I was unsure about, and was not having a very easy time of finding the 'right' additional source material! ...Not an altogether uncommon occurrence in the artistic 'birthing' process. ...I was kind of "stuck"!
I put this project aside, for a while, and went on with other work.
When I decided that it was time to re-engage, I was reminded of the fact that I still had the issue of missing/undecided video content! Hmm... Then, one day, in a prayerful mindset, I began to listen to the song, repeatedly and meditatively; to see if I could 'hear' some (new) guidance on what content to look for.
And then, at one point - when the refrain came around, I suddenly 'heard' (exactly like this):
"Anything I ask for is mine!
'Knock; the door will open
If you seek, then you will find
(That it's) Yours for the asking' ..."
THERE it was! Ha ha ... I had it now, and I KNEW it!!
"Yours For The Asking" is the actual "intended" title for this song! And these lyrics are to be the theme! WOW! Now, it's settled! Amen! ...That explains why I was struggling with the video concept, earlier!
And when this became clear to me, the video source material pretty much "fell into my lap", as we Americans say!! Ha ha. And the sequencing and editing process was a breeze, after that. ...Like a breath of fresh air!
... Upon viewing the final cut, I was elated, and felt highly honoured and blessed!
MY PRAYER: That we all can grow in faith, and not be easily sidelined by adversity, or indecision, or fear, or doubt, or 'bad news'! (A tall order; believe me, I know!) ...That even our seemingly 'unanswered' prayers not deter us from hopefulness and determination! ...That we can hearten ourselves, with that old adage, that "delay is not (always necessarily) denial"!
